Explore Scientific’s 5-in-1 Professional Weather Station puts a wealth of weather data at your fingertips. With this versatile system, users will always be in the know about the latest conditions in their area. The 5-in-1 outdoor sensor array — which includes a mounting stand, wireless antennae and bubble level — measures rainfall, wind speed, wind direction, temperature and humidity. It connects wirelessly to an indoor weather station console which interprets the data and displays it in full color on an LCD screen.
For weather enthusiasts, this Professional Weather Station does more than keep them informed about the conditions in their area. It is designed to network with a user's Weather Underground® and/or Weathercloud® online account(s), so they can review and share live weather data from their weather station through the wunderground.com website from any computer or tablet on the internet. This feature enables avid weather watchers to become a critical part of renowned worldwide forecasting platforms that rely on global networks of citizen-supplied data.
The heart of this Professional Weather Station is the indoor console that receives and interprets the data collected by the sensors on the Weather Station’s outdoor array. It has a full color LCD screen that displays a wide range of home weather information. It also synchronizes with an internet-based server for precise time information and serves as a buzzer alarm clock with an ice pre-alert function.
Information shown on the display includes:
The indoor console includes a handy weather index feature that interprets data to let users know what conditions will feel like when they step outside. Pressing the index key allows users to cycle through four data points. The first is a “feels like” temperature index. The second is the heat index, which provides crucial warnings about the possibilities of heat exhaustion, heat dehydration and sunstroke. The third is the current wind chill factor, which is determined through a combination of the current outdoor temperature and wind speed sensor data. The final index measure is dew point as determined by the temperature and humidity data received from the outdoor array.
The forecast information displayed on the indoor console is derived from data collected by the barometer on the outdoor array. The barometer notes atmospheric pressure changes, and the collected data is used to predict weather conditions in the next 12 to 24 hours within a 30-50 kilometers (19-31 miles) radius.
As an added benefit, the indoor display also has a history function that can be used to review the weather data of the past 24 hours; adjustable backlight; and indicators for both wireless signal and battery strength.
